Spacescapes

These works all started with the application of of a coloured ground directly onto the canvas without without any preconceived composition.  The wet ground was manipulated by wiping and brushing until a basic compositional structure emerged. Forces and counter forces, space and colour started to coalesce and a conclusion was reached when all elements combined to create a dynamic balance. 

Although the work may appear abstract, there are always content notes: effigies, moons, landscapes, waterscapes, spacecapes.
